>>21694324After the incredibly promising and well-crafted EP Your Mori., Hololive V-Tuber Mori Calliope "surprises" us by making everything I would have never wanted on her debut record. Calli and her crew do the bare minimum to create the most generic, overproduced and (for the most part) soulless J-Pop that every V-Tubers fan will already know by heart, while rejecting all the great mix of pop and rap that were solidifying Calli as the most promising personality of the bunch. I may be a bit of a hater of electro swing, but Dead On Arrival is just as basic as it can be, while the title track and Ouroboros continue to beat the dead horse of the trend of orchestral anime opening style of music. I can find only two good songs here, being HUGE W with its noisy EDM sounds, and Scuffed Up Age, a balanced track with great vocal performances and production. While I get that this record is aimed to a broad public of V-Tuber fans, UnAlive remains a huge step down for Calli, especially after everything she's put out up until this point.
