>>21826764She signed to Universal Music Japan - not the big boi UMG. They use the name under license, and I'm pretty sure the licensing agreement is so old, Universal still fucking owned UMG.
>>21866604Because old, rich white people deemed it so.
>Warner Music Group - not owned by AT&T/Warner Bros>Universal Music Group - not owned by Universal/Comcast>BMG - not owned by Bertslelslelelemenn>EMI...every piece of its corpse is owned by someone elseSony...wait, Sony actually owns all of their namesake brands.
And "old" BMG. Music, film...all of it. If they divested something, it ain't fuckin called "Sony" anymore.
And they say YWNBJ to all the other labels. On second thought, it's a bit of a blessing that AOL Time Warner and VivendiUniversal made the bone-headed move of dumping their labels when the record industry was in a slump. Can you imagine if fucking AT&T or Comcast or fucking Verizon or any telco controlled a music label too? Instead of the relative free-for-all when it comes to music streaming options you'd be forced into juggling separate services for each label like Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, etc.
Don't get any fucking ideas you niggers, music is far too easy to pirate.
