It wasn't until I was introduced to Hololive clips in 2020 that I realised they're actually real human beings just with an avatar.
In retrospect I don't even blame myself, why the fuck were people acting like somebody streaming with a virtual avatar was a new concept at all? Back in fucking 2017? Shit like that has existed since it was possible to link up a voice to something digitally, so decades at the least. So I figured, if people are making such a fuss about it, it must be an AI that's streaming, right? That's be sufficiently new and exciting enough to generate buzz.
Vtubing really isn't a novel or even unique concept.
