Every second is a second closer to infertility and eternal damnation as a lonely, childless spinster. People like this are highly susceptible to the Sunk Cost Fallacy whereby they reason that an increasingly deteriorating situation is still worth investing more of a given resource (money, time, etc.) into because they cannot accept cutting bait and losing the resources that they have already invested. The more valuable the resource the stronger the effect of the sunk cost fallacy.
So you play the game for a while, maybe even a year. Then you slowly start treating her like shit and draining more and more out of her. She'll notice the change and maybe even be unhappy, but in her mind she's calculating all of the time, emotion, and energy that she has invested. She will eventually come to justify and excuse your actions and behavior rather than confront the reality of returning to square one and utter, abject loneliness.
