I'd like to start by saying I like Indonesia, it's a (often) beautiful country and I'd love to visit for non-charity reasons someday.
But why is Vtubing so popular in Indonesia? It's a country where almost 30% of people don't have reliable internet access, where massive natural disasters are so common they're expected, and that is so strife with ethnic and regional tensions that terrorism and insurgencies can easily disrupt a streamer's life at any given moment. I'm glad that they have something to enjoy, but why is it so popular there and why are there so many resources being poured in from Japanese and American companies? I mean, I can't even imagine Hololive starting a French branch despite it being far more economically and linguistically reliable than Indonesia (a country that has over 700 languages mind you) yet Indonesia is seemingly the third biggest market.
