>>22165791>Reminder that Suisei was just middle of pack at the start of last year until she inclined like crazy after GHOST.>How did she do it?By not being an idol.
She wanted to be an idol, of course, but being an idol is about the journey. About giving your best even though you aren't the best. About appealing and catering to your audience. About needing and being given support.
Suisei loves idols, she's basically a gachikoi for OTHER idols, but she isn't one herself, and for the longest time, she just didn't understand this herself. Thus her abysmal growth early on when she (and Miko) were the left behind kids in the bunch.
As much as she loved idols, she never WAS one, and thus didn't appeal to the crowd.
People watched Hololive expecting cute girls being silly at games and venturing into singing and dancing as an aside.
Suisei wasn't that.
And eventually Suisei understood this, too. And changed. The Suicopath meme, her ever more leaning into a star/diva persona, as opposed to an idol persona. Her rejection of gachikoi doesn't work for an idol persona, but for a diva, forever unreachable? Perfect fit. Her ALREADY excelling doesn't match the journey of an idol, but it matches the star on the stage.
Once she didn't do this by accident, but intentionally leaned into it, she started to develop her audience, people who actually wanted this. Cue her numbers exploding.
And that's where she is now.
