Right after that you test the waters out a bit and then the moment you leave the tutorial star systems (called the District), you are basically in the mid game already.
The game itself is very enjoyable at the beginning when everything is new, but you have to love the grind to get further in, because essentially every activity is the same as it is at the start, just on a different scale.
I do recommend it, though. Makes for a good 2nd monitor game when you are enjoying streams or something else, and there are still great moments in game especially during combat and exploration
