This topic gets flirted with every six months or so.
More autistic people than in this thread have already discussed at some length on it, even with some making videos like this

In short in the beginning, Amelia was using a shotgun microphone (Rode NTG-1 if I remember correctly). Shotgun microphones are particularly susceptible to the proximity effect. This means that their low-frequency response goes up massively the closer the sound source is to the microphone. Now, something like 6dB doesn't seem like a lot, but the decibel scale is logarithmic, which means that 6dB is a DOUBLING of amplitude. After this she switched away from the shotgun microphone, and also showed her goXLR settings on stream to chat, with the lower frequencies turned down as far as they could go (sub 250hz). This also was because she had something in the background - air-conditioner or other appliance - which would hum at ~220hz whenever she spoke.
Kiara has a different problem because she uses the SM7B as her streaming microphone, whic has elevated response as high as 5-6 dB in the 2000 to 5000hz region (coincidentally, the portion where the human ear is most sensitive to, and associated with things like nails on a chalkboard) if the presence boost switch on the microphone is enabled. Not that she isn't putting on a voice but the microphone is likely making it worse. Which is also why she sounds much better when using other microphones like in the cooking streams.
