Also they're literally girls in their early 20s mostly. were you playing games from the 70s and 80s when you were a kid? I wasn't. what I consider retro is actually just what I grew up with

if a vtuber is old enough to have nostalgia for retro games you probably wouldn't want to watch the hag. so they really have to be stepping out of their comfort zone

I was playing games from the 80s as a kid, yes. I am 45 years old. Some of them are fun to watch for a few minutes, like arcade games. I wouldn't watch Korone's R-Type stream for 12 hours though.

Any examples of vtubers that do this? I mostly see ones where they always play the popular games at the time and weird one-off niche game that you wouldn't know they existed unless they played it. If they drop a retro game, they were likely suggested it from their audience and not because they have certain nostalgia for it from childhood would be my guess.
