If you remember, people always used to complain about not getting certain channels in their sub box years back. YouTube themselves fucked with it too much, now most people don’t use it the way it was intended. That’s why they had to add the bell. I think most people use it as a way to show that they generally enjoy that person’s content. So it’s still a big deal to get 1 mil+ subs, but it doesn’t mean what it used.
Getting subscribers never guarantees high viewer retention anyway, even in older YouTube. Ideally, PewDiePie should be getting at the very least 10-20 million views per video
