People often try stuff like whitening soap or whitening pills (I have no idea if they work) to appear whiter. Picrel is a real ad in the Philippines, btw. Imagine the backlash in the US if people advertised a soap that could somehow turn a black woman into a white woman.
I mean, with Vtuber models you can be any skin color you want. If Southeast Asian Vtubers want white skin, they'll just use white-skinned models.
