>>22688607>I think he mistaken the whole idea of Vtuber (Hololive specifically) with Japanes idolsHe did. I Connor's defense, he's always very open about things he don't know about and that he doesn't have any interest about.
His problem is *not* when he doesn't know and doesn't care about something, but when he DOES care and think he understands what's going on (when he at most have some very superficial knowledge about it).
I'm a regular listener (or was up until a month ago or so) and what happened to them is what happened to most entertainers and public figures in the western world (including Moot, interestingly)
1) their popularity allow them to surround themselves with very "in" very cool people that not necessarily shares their same worldview, but that open doors to them that wouldn't otherwise be open for weebs and social retards
2) these same people take advantage of the fact they have a huge audience inaccessible to their "proselytism" and use them to push their message (however retard it would be)
3) the fear of being push out this new group they finally got access ("cancellation", if you mean) forces them more and more into self censoring in one hand, and reneging on their past on the other hand
The one thing that turned me off the most about the three of them was their newly acquired sensitivity to the use of "trap" in the context of anime.
I ABSOLUTELY understand refraining from using "nigger" on stream. Pewds lost a Disney sponsorship because of it, it's puerile to use in a professional setting and even fucking 4chan knows about the concept of "hiding your power level".
But "traps" is a staple of anime, and a staple of weeb comedy. It doesn't carry a HINT of bigotry and even transexuals back on old/b/ days wouldn't object to the use of said term, they would even be flattered because it implies being "passable".
Anyone and any community swearing "trap" off their vocabulary went too deep into the other side and is already dead, fully coopted by modern sensitivities
