She's obviously got a taste for the sauce but if she were an alcoholic (addict) she would be drunk all the time. Some ethnic groups carry genes that make their body react to alcohol differently: Native American, Irish, German, Russian in particular. If I had to guess I'd say she probably has a family history of alcoholism and knows it can be a problem so she's careful about it.
