Tanned anime girls are actually pretty popular, Nagatoro should be evidence enough of that. I think there's never been an outstanding talent with dark skin in a big corporation. Flare is good but she's low-key and no Pekora.

Nagato isn't popular, its trash sales are proof of that. It was only popular in certain bubbles (4chan + tranny twitter), beyond that nobody gave a shit. How do I put this in a board-friendly way? Outside of a few schizos nobody dislikes bronze skin tones. It works well with many color palettes for clothing design and such. It is when you go further than that, into real dark continent territory, are people of all backgrounds actually put off by how badly that shade clashes with good character design.

Anyway, /vt/'s 'brown skin is a debuff' rrat is complicated by the fact that the two brown-skinned Holos both had atrocious models. Flare was some sort of mutant frog-hybrid with bulging eyes (and had a complete rework for it), and Sana on top of being poorly rigged and deformed (ears on the back of her head) has a bizarrely flat, rotten-grey shade to her 'brown' skin.

I've said this a couple other times these threads come up, but Sana's issue is 100% that the color tone in her skin has too much yellow and it's oversaturated.

It took a couple minutes to adjust. Even though it's subtle, it makes a pretty big difference. Both sides are the exact same luminosity but the right side just feels softer with the redder tint and lowered saturation.
