>>23096620I'll give you an example. Most places have rules where the manager can write you up for being late, not doing your work on time, etc. Sounds reasonable, right? Except they can choose when to actually care about it.
At one job I worked the manager was always slack when people come in -- he was cool with people coming in 30 minutes late, an hour, as long as you were there and got your work done, didn't matter.
That is until one day one of the senior guys got too big for his britches and told off the manager for a dumb plan he had (the guy was right, it was stupid). The manager got butthurt, and from then on every single time the guy was like 5 minutes late, or was just a little subpar in his work, he'd write him up.
He was fired quickly after.
