I think one of the biggest misconceptions about le evil idol culture is that the fans think they have a chance, when in reality it's the idea that the idol would give all of her love to her fans and wouldn't actually be giving love to one man
it's like, as a fan (or gachikoi), you don't feel like your oshi is in love with you specifically, but rather she loves her entire fanbase and is gachikoi for them in return.
thing is, with Mori specifically, she has done so much and does so much for her fans that it would be really weird to try and assert that she doesnt have any love for us, but the fact that this was in the time period it was is extremely unfortunate.
