I'm familiar with the artist and rigger and there's no way that rigger in particular would have done it for free. His wait list is massive so he would have taken a rush fee on top of everything. Same with the artist probably since those two tend to work closely together.

I think I have a pretty good guess who bankrolled it and why, but I'm still trying to get confirmation so I don't turn into another schizoposter. TL;DR: Smaller (no not Nijisanj) corpo CEO bankrolled it to encourage more top earning Holos to leave. Kind of an object lessons to show them "See, you won't end up hungry".
Holo is extremely strong so only internal divisions can really bring it down at this point.
