>>24068125The best advice I can give is don't expect any method to carry you. The method you choose is almost irrelevant compared to the importance of spending a lot of time immersed in the language while making an effort to understand it. To get started, learning enough basic characters, vocabulary and grammar so that reading is feasible and then torturing yourself with the painful experience that is doing loads of reading reps (games, books, manga, VNs, LNs, anything that can keep you engaged) as a beginner is probably the shortest path, albeit not the easiest. Reading is really insanely efficient compared to all other methods (aside from literally moving to Japan). The only issue is that the jump to listening can be kind of difficult, but assuming you'll be doing listening practice by watching streams already, that shouldn't be much of an issue. anki is the best tool out there for getting started on kana+kanji+vocab. Also look up the 3 volumes of Dictionary of Japanese Grammar. It's a godly tool to have at your side when doing reading practice. You can find all of the stuff I talked about on the OP for the DJT thread on /jp/ or /int/. Just don't bother asking them for advice, specially the /jp/ one. Cure dolly is not a meme btw, she's legitimately one of the best resources out there for explaining a lot concepts.
