>>24045891Looking back at it now, between the picture labeled "fauna_smack.png" and the fact that you started the reply with "alright you little piece of compost"
I figure this is a meme I am unaware of. followed by you making a demand for me to "learn to format" you kind of didn't do much to facilitate an easy discussion yourself, but I'll take responsibility in that my post could have been better stated. Maybe if I replaced one of the words in your own sentence with something other than "read" it would have been less antagonistic. Maybe not sleeping well for weeks and being seen as someone who gets into needless discussions about irrelevant stuff caused a bit of irritation in me that I subconsciously put onto you. If so, I apologize for that.
Usually, I imagine myself as being above that kind of response, but everyone has those kinds of situations I suppose. Don't view this as an excuse, but I am admittedly somewhat tired of repeating myself when I feel like I articulated myself fine enough the first time. With that said, just for a couple replies, I'll work harder to format my responses in a way you can hopefully understand better, so please tell me if this is helping you.
>>24041200In this post, you suggest that your magic system is not only not a product of evolution (including evolution of other things such as symbiotes, viruses, bacteria, etc. let's call them biological processes for clarity's sake) but that this physical process is influenced by metaphysical stimuli. A few suggestions have been given of how to effectively achieve your intended result in a way that fit the setting's mechanics, all of which you have seemingly turned down in favor of this. I am fine with the ideas themselves; all I want is for it to be explained through a physical process.
The main problem I have with your idea not being a product of evolution/biology is that chuubanite is a molecule that binds to other molecules, and the effect you seek to create would require turning animal cells into plant cells. Furthermore, it would only affect humans. I posed the question of how a dumb, aimless molecular structure without any inherent genetic or epigenetic qualities would act on the scale of DNA, which is a collection of amino acids organized in a pattern that is not merely the product of its sums. You gave an answer, but I don't know how much it was meant to address that concern at all.
Chuubanite can have an effect that represents its thread. It should ideally have only one effect that can be used in multiple ways depending on how it's used. being able to achieve telekinesis is possible, though it would likely require unique chuubanite and glyphs. The raw chuubanite element on it's own being able to consciously control things around in in a precise way is pushing it a bit far. In this setting, you would need a more complex mechanism for it to be able to achieve each of those conditions simultaneously, which is why increasing it to the biological scale is a good idea for that effect.
There have been multiple suggested biological mechanisms which you can use to achieve your goal. Furthermore, if you can think of one yourself that doesn't break the current mold, that is more than welcome, too. Chuubas cannot control individual elements with that level of precision, nor would they, see the guy who explained to you the rule about /here/ chuubas. If neither plain chuubanite nor passive divine intervention are viable options, the explanation for how it works from a physiological perspective is left open.
As a thread dedicated to the personified concept of nature, both in our lore and yours, it would be fitting in my opinion for you to use more inspiration from evolution and other such biological processes. It doesn't matter to me what you pick as long as it makes logical sense given the magic system, and you have creative control over your idea, but it seems like a bit of a wasted opportunity to me, especially since you can have the effects that you want and not break aspects of the setting. take that as you will.
All in all, I apologize for any offense I may have caused earlier, and I genuinely hope this can come to a satisfactory conclusion for you. My intention isn't to box you into a decision, which is why I try to suggest multiple, but I do want to make sure everything is consistent. To be honest, I figured most of us here were in agreement on the goal of this thread, so maybe I should ask if people wouldn't prefer me to stop posting these kinds of ideas or getting in these kinds of discussions at all, even though they are the essence of world building in my opinion, and I find it very fun to engage in. Hopefully no hard feelings will persist after this, in case any were made in the first place. This should be fun for all of us, but I understand if some of the things I say can cause others to dislike me sometimes.
also, fuck formatting, it kills my train of thought every time. internet rules for life.
