They have to learn what it means and in almost no cases will you come across that meaning instinctually. A kid will point and ask what the thing they're pointing at is called, and then someone else, most likely their parents or caretakers, will tell them what to call it, and they can still end up mispronouncing that shit for months even with constant exposure to other people repeating said word. The information doesn't pop up on its own. This isn't just "immersion", you're getting everything explained to you every step of the way by other people.
