IIRC, out of all the major consoles, Xbox consoles are the ones Korone said she doesn't have interest in getting. Also, the Rare Replay version was said to be left untranslated.

Jesas, seriously? It's bad enough to release something completely untranslated but they even had the Live & Reloaded translation available already, that's appalling bahavior.

Yep. Sony and Nintendo just had a vice grip on Japanese gamers so the Xbox couldn't really eek out a piece of the market share. Hell even PC gaming struggled for a long ass time to carve our a spot until relatively recently

i cant shake the feeling that some nippon publishers and developers are mad about this
i hate apex with every fiber of my being, but im glad its one of the reasons so many jp games now release on pc too

I guess because Nintendo and Sega ensured that gaming in Japan was more or less cemented as console based as far back as the 80s (and followed up by Sony in the 90s) and monopolized all the JP based 3rd party devs in the process. Maybe also because PCs are considered part of office life and the Japanese keep their personal and work lives very self-contained culturally. There was still a market for PC games but it kind of got pigeonholed for stuff like MMOs, VNs and eroge. God bless the handful of JP devs who stuck out with PC for the longest time like Falcom, good on them for at least trying.
