Download high quality brushes but don't wexpect them to work for you right away. If you can't even master the regular round one, you are not ready to use the more complicated ones. The best way of figuring out how to use them is to grab art that you really like, and try to recreate what the artist was doing. Often you'll end up using new brushes and then once you know how to do that you can slowly start incorporating them into your work flow.
Also Ina's tips are usually bad but this one is really good: To get used to the drawing tablet, use it for everything. Use it instead of a mouse. You'll slowly get used to it and the muscle memory will kick in when you need it.
