It's not like assignments are due all year round. You usually have one every few weeks for each course and should be able to do each of them in a few days at the most if you're not working.
You also a 2 week break in the middle of each semester, a month long break between semesters, and a 3 month break at the end of the year.
All in all you basically have a whole 5 and a half months where you can do whatever you want.
Even if you're working an internship for one ore two of those months that's way more time than any full time worker gets.
Sure having money from working is great and you don't really need to worry about suddenly becoming homeless which is a huge load off the mind but you're really underestimating the value of spare time.
Hell most jobs in my sector require you to work or do research during extra unpaid hours outside of work so including that and travel time you're really using more like 50-60 hours of your week on work.
Also at school you can actually hang out with and make new friends whereas at work unless you're lucky you'll probably be hanging out with people twice your age who share none of your hobbies.
Waste not want not. Don't become a regretful old man.
