He got called out for that which made another coach (Coach Curtis, also a high elo player) play two games in bronze to prove a point and guess what, he lost one of those games. If you look at his gameplay, it shows nothing spectacular that would make someone say "wow this dude is a challenger" even tho' he was.
On the second point about "lying" about learning english, a lot of other holos said that they would like to learn it but in reality when you look at the numbers, kaigainiki make up for less than 10% of their total viewership, so learning a new language just to sometimes appease a very small group of people is not very logical, especially for japs that do vtubing as their SECOND (sometimes even third) job.
