What's the point of joining a small corpo? You give up all the freedom of being an indie for a slightly easier start, but at the same time you're doomed to stay a 2 view forever.

Bad idea. You want at least a few to increase your chances of at least one of them getting popular. If you launch one and it’s a dud than your corpo is done for, although I’m guessing the corpo in question would be a larp instead of anything actually tangible so probably no big loss

Networking is a lot easier
Management that handles the boring stuff (legal, merch, etc)
Company discord server and company 4chan thread that keep your persona alive in the heads of people even when you are not streaming

That said, you have to beware not to rely on the company clout forever and expand beyond that. Small corpos are appearing and disappearing all the time and if you fail to grab an audience and make a name for yourself before the company collapses you will disappear with them

My guess is 3 minimum, 5 maximum. You don't want to have so many that they compete with each other.

There are 3view corpos. One of my favorites is a 3view and she isn't even at 10k subs yet.

Don't listen to those guys who've only watched EN vtubers. There are numerous example in JP and even in ID where the agencies can survive by started with a single vtuber, and then expand after they can survive the first few months.

The main factor of the success seems to be how serious you are. How much money do you have? This is the most important thing because with enough money you can have a professional management who will take care of the trivial and managerial things so you don't have to. And second is how talented you are? A lot of money don't mean shit if you are just a mediocre entertainer.
If you founded an agency as a side project with your friends should just go indie, you have to be serious about it.
