>>25373368I know I'm playing the devil's advocate here (also not that anon), but...
at the same time, I think nobody could contend that art in any form should and will "change" you as a person, that having a lasting effect on people who experience it is its ultimate purpose (that last bit is my opinion). Similarly, I recall Miyazaki saying he used to feel and "emote" the things he drew, so he didn't like to portray too many hopeless things in his works so as not to become depressed. Anyone who has ever drawn, I think, can attest to that too.
Art changes both the artists who creates it and the people who get to experience it. So a Vtuber whose content consists mainly of subjecting herself to different forms of humiliation, whose fanart depicts herself being maimed and raped and similar taboo-like deprecations of the character she plays as... allow me to doubt she is not influenced by her deeds. I understand that the idea is to exorcise your fears and traumas through fiction, but rape victims sometimes try to cope by enacting similar scenes and trying to turn it into an entertainment, hence downplaying its "trauma" factor. That way they can feign indifference instead of confronting the pain directly. While in this case fictional, of course, I can help but think her launching a "rape vod" runs by the exact same logic. And again, by that logic, I feel inclined to think most of her content is a kind of self-preserving loop where she will deal with personal traumas by fiction, only to enhance them for that very reason.
I would like to say I'm not against ryona, in fact I support you and I watch ryona streams sometimes. In fact, I am very attracted by the taboo aspect of it. Let's also not forget Akira's current meltdown is a direct product of literal rape. I also have my own set of fetishes to worry about, so it's not in my mind to lecture any of you. It's just I've never been able to consider the idea that people can completely separate fiction from reality anything but a delusion (the other side of the discussion doesn't help either, directly conflating any crime with videogames and such stupid shit).
Sorry for subjecting you all to my blog. Hope the thread can continue more or less peacefully.
