The game is not that deep, but not for the reasons you think it isn't. It's premised on a pretty simple but funny contradiction that the narrator's story is what leads Stanley to freedom but exercising player agency confounds this goal. The main problem I have with this game being streamed is similar to how Getting Over It has a section you're not supposed to stream: if you're not the one playing it you really are only listening to a streamer react to a few funny voice lines.

One of the things the game counts on for some of its conceits to work is the player "inhabiting" Stanley. If you aren't in control of the character there are several endings where the "you" being referred to is the streamer and not the viewer, and the effect the game is going for is ruined.
