I'm going to assume that you are a total newfag, considering that you just got into chuubas a "couple months ago".
So HoloJP used to have a chuuba in their 4th gen named Kiryu Coco. She was a dragon girl that was also a yakuza boss (and yes, the "Kiryu" surname is also a direct reference to Kazuma Kiryu of the Yakuza franchise, her all time favorite vidya character). She garnered something of a reputation in the west during the first real boom of vtubing there in ~early 2020, mainly due to the fact that she would occasionally drop English words onto her stream (her roommate is a native English speaker). Anyways, she originally campaigned for what is now HoloEN based off of a joke she made about a fictitious alter ego named Coco Kaine. This skyrocketed her popularity alongside fellow chuuba Haachama, who can (somewhat) speak English, but not nearly as well as her kouhai.
During a stream between the two of them in October (i think?) 2020, Haachama was reading her viewer analytics, and noted Taiwan in these statistics, as Google by default recognizes Taiwan as a separate land entity from China (as they should).
Now, at this time, Hololive actually had something of a following in China, via bilibili. They were so popular there, that Fubuki at one point had a third of her income come from the chinks alone.
Now, these chinks were not happy about this minor fuckup, so these chinks harassed Holo talents left, right and center over this. To add fuel to the fire, Hololive Moments, a popular YT clip channel, came out in support of these chinks, angering the western chuuba fanbase. Now, after a while, Cover decided to pull out of China, that meant shutting down the bilibili pages their JP talents had, alongside their Chinese branch, on their 2nd generation (RIP Yogiri, Spade, and no one else). The talents, especially Coco and Haachama were very negatively affected by all this harassment. Haachama took a break lasting a couple months, and even when she came back, it took her a while to garner a consistent upload schedule. As for Coco, you could clearly see she was struggling, even on stream. There's a clip that fucking breaks my heart everytime I see it where she breaks down in tears on stream, and Kanata comes in from another room to comfort her.
Unfortunately, Kiryu Coco announced that she would be graduating on July 1st, 2021. The VOD is up on her channel, and Cover has said that they will preserve her channel and all her videos that aren't members-only or unarchived.
TLDR: fuck china
