that played into a whole HoloEN universe, like origin stories all forming together and making the Myth Crew.In that sense, I always pictured Mori a stubborn Reaper who was assigned the task of terminating "the pheonix", as a sort of test by Death Sensei to become his TRUE replacement. So it turns into a sort of Lupin and Zenigata dynamic, where Kiara playfully eludes Mori for millenia, always interested in experiencing more of life and seeing how she can help people, while Mori's more interested in finishing her bounty, completely married to her work and her sense of duty.
Eventually, Kiara plays along with Mori's antics, and challenges her to a fight, where if Mori wins, she'll get her immortal soul, and if Kiara wins, she'll be her best friend forever. Mori accepts, knowing it's in the bag that there's nothing stronger than Death itself,
but Kiara actually fucking trounces her, since she's got the equivalent of Phoenix Force locked behind her joyful demeanor. However, using this power comes at a price of using up her complete life force for that reincarnation, and while Mori isn't completely destroyed, she's left defeated, as Kiara fades away once more, happy to have a new Best Friend in the world.Mori then stews on their relationship, waiting for Kiara to reincarnate (which grows longer with each death), trying to hone her skills, but when she meets Kiara again, she learns to enjoy Life, exploring the world with her, and learning there's more to life than work.
There's also an entire third act breakdown between the two girls, so I really just have to write this shit sometime. Been putting it off for a year.
