I assume you showed her english tubers, in which case they're not trying to act cutesy, they're trying to act japanese. It's also cringe, but it's a different brand of it. When a JP like Marine begins her cutesy act, most of her chat calls it cringe too, with some exceptions here and there calling it cute. But her regular self is already cute enough.
The appeal is getting a glimpse into a "she's just like me" otaku woman who would otherwise never be talking to male losers about everything they talk about. That in itself is cute.
Western culture is just incompatible with that, so it'll always come off as forced, and fake. The JP chuuba is a played up version of a JP otaku, the EN chuuba is as well, but nobody in the west acts like a realistic version of a JP otaku in the first place.
>>25950058They're not allowed to talk about politics and religion, anything else is them using the "seiso rules" as a convenient escape from a subject they don't want to talk about. It's talk-deck.
Also, let's be real, there's hardly any actual controversial and challenging discussions happening at all anymore. There are sensitive topics being discussed, but the discussions themselves are always the same partisan circlejerks with the exact same arguments being made in bad faith by the exact same notorious personalities. It's a waste of fucking time, there's no philosophical depth of any kind to be found by paying attention to it anymore.
It's why this kind of mindless positive escapism is gaining traction in the first place. Actual worthless topics are more fun to discuss than a bastardized worthless version of a topic that should be important and discussed in depth.
