Zero and Ciel's story was all sorts of fucked, but they both did what they had to do to try to make a better future, and it was made more sad after zx events.
Everything in black and white and the sequels showed that even in the pokemon world, the desire to change for the future, will always have two sides, and someone will always be hurt in order for the future to be brighter, even if it means the truth beating the ideals, or the ideals keeping the truth from ever being known, to stay happy in it. Pokemon got worse, but gen 5 remained close to my heart, i won't even give remakes a chance seeing how they fucked up gen 3 and 4.
Fable 1 was sad at every turn, losing the family at the start, reuniting with them in worse shape, becoming imprisoned, losing mother, having many consequences and the pain you can cause to anyone else should you make that choice.
Fable 2 being a world where you grow connected with your dog, and it being killed, and when the machine can be used, the overall loss your choice at the end still results in.
Video games sure fucks one up when one least expects it.
