>>26929559Keto is totally fine. Actually better than fine, given the way most people eat. Modern diets contain way more carbs than is necessary, due to things like the invention of agriculture, long term grain storage, and farming subsidies.
One thing I would say is that if you do eat some carbs in your diet, eat them right before you workout. Carbs are temporary energy that are important for not becoming exhausted when doing exercise. Protein, in contrast, is for after workouts, as it helps your little proteins synthesize together to repair (read: build) your muscle to become stronger.
For example, my main diet is meat, beans, canned fish, and rice, with some vegetables and fruits along the way (I know I eat like a total poorfag, but I just like it for some reason). What I do is eat rice or sardines on crackers in the morning before my workouts, and have the meat and beans later on in the day. When I'm gaining mass, I drink milk throughout the day, but certainly after I workout.
You'll be fine though, as long as you don't notice a significant exhaustion. In the very beginning it will be hard to judge what exhaustion is, because if you're lifting heavy, you'll get DOMS. DOMS are a blissful fatigue in the muscles (feels kinda eroi desu). They don't hurt, but when I had them, I basically couldn't raise my arms in the shower to shampoo my hair and on the stairs I literally had to drag myself up the railing because I couldn't lift my legs kek. Obviously any workout while you have DOMS will be ineffective, so don't feel bad about giving it another day before you head back in the gym. They went away in about a month for me.
That's all to say, if you're three months down the line, and your not moving up because you're simply too tired, it could be a carb problem. And caffeine won't help. Trust me, I've tried.
Hard and fast rule is if you benched 1 plate for four sets last workout perfectly fine, but on the current workout you're dropping weight off the bar for every set, you're exhausted.
This is not to say this carb exhaustion will happen to you, by no means. Don't anticipate and change your diet on my behalf, ESPECIALLY if it helped you lose weight in the past. If you're feeling great, then keep going at it with the diet you're on. I'm just going off what slowed me down in the past.
Forgot to say because its obvious, but you need to get decent sleep too. If it's not carbs that's exhausting you, it's sleep.
I feel like I'm rambling, but I enjoy sharing what I've learned. Feel free to ask anything else.
>>26927144Glad I could help. While I'm not the strongest guy in the world (can only bench 2.5pl, uwah kimoi~!), I do like to help newbies where I xan. Especially when the fitness industry is so rife with snake oil salesman shilling supplements and influencer personalities with oddball training regiments.
Remember, it's all about staying healthy. Looking good is a nice aside, but some guys go crazy trying to surpass humanity with roids and the strictest of regiments, despite them mogging 98% of the population while natty.
As a side note, I can't wait for the Strongest Pentomo vs. Weakest Dragoon memes to start popping up when the DraGOON SQUAD lifting videos start popping up
