Thread explaining super chatting?

No.2690064 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I think a lot of people don't understand how someone could become a patron or member or tipper or super chatter.
So I'd like to use this thread to illuminate why and how, among other things related to it. Starting with myself.

First, I think a lot of it is kids. I was born in 2001 so I've grown up using the internet and always having "Just pay five dollars" always out of reach, given I had no credit card or source of income to replenish said money. These kids are the people you see bitching about super chatting, as such a concept is unimaginable to them, and these kids are the ones superchatting, as they suddenly have this old reality broken.

Since those years I've graduated highschool and gotten a well paying tech job. It was short in employment, thus why they'd accept a highschool grad, but it paid well and got me a significant foundation in future employment.
Since then my family started doing a lot better. Much more disposable income.
And I started investing using money from my old job.
Just in typing this I've seen my crypto assets move a hundred dollars on my phone. That's unrealized gains/losses, sure, but I've seen them.

And I think this is what creates someone willing to super chat. Not some desperate mentally ill loser, but someone with disposable income and time on their hands. In this time we live in money flows so easily it's insane. Stimulus checks no small example.

Maybe you got into the college debt trap. Maybe you're a young kid. Maybe you're actually genuinely impoverished. No matter, for normal people it's more than feasible.
