Trap is not a fucking slur (i will explain why), it has nothing to do with trans people. You cant come into a community, see them using a word thats not about you, and then decide to be offended by it.

At WORST the term trap is "problematic" in the same way the word "ebony" or "bbw" as a porn category is problematic. IE, its problematic in a theoretical sense that has no actual impact on anyone anywhere ever, and the fact that THIS is the issue she decides to tweet and be vocal about, something that doesnt matter at in in trans peoples very real struggle for acceptance, is fucking pathetic.

Why trap is not a slur
Most obvious reason is, no one who is actually active and outspoken in their hatred of Trans people have ever actually used the term "trap" (the TERM trap, not the WORD trap). fucking never
Trap is basically a fetish term like ebony, people who hate trans people have a long list of slurs they use, TRAP IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
Secondly, the term trap is more homophobic than it is transphobic. The point of trap is that it makes YOU gay if you fell for it, the term is not about the agency of the person doing the crossdressing or their intentions.
You post a picture of a dude dressed as a girl, some other guy says its hot, you go YOU FELL FOR THE TRAP, you're a fag now.
Trans people dont even enter into the fucking discussion.
Sure the people using the term are probably transphobic too, but the conversation was never about trans people so you cant call them out on that.
In summary
1: no one who uses slurs against trans people includes Trap in their list of slurs
2: The problematic connotation of trap has more to do with homophobia than transphobia
3: The term is not about the intentions of the person cross dressing at all
4: real trans people were not being called traps because real trans people dont fucking pass.
5: the usage of the word trap has NO EFFECT AT ALL on the acceptance and safety of trans people in society. You are accomplishing fucking nothing by harping on this word
