>>27309123The china stuff is talking about Coco, Hololive talent who graduated last summer (year ago yesterday in fact). Officially she parted ways with the company over creative differences, but there's a lot more to it than that. She was always pushing the envelope, both in new content and ideas but also in what is 'acceptable' behavior; some people think she was at least partly pressured out of the company (she's Japanese-American, raised in Atlanta Georgia for context, though she's lived in Japan for years now). She also drew Chinese ire over a completely innocent use of 'Taiwan', then refused to bow to their demands which resulted in an organized, continuous attack on her and the company by hordes of Chinese antis. Lasted a good year, with some lingering effects still to this day. Was a major part in Hololive completely pulling out of China in favor of the Western market (which wasn't a light decision, before this Hololive had a huge presence and fanbase in the Chinese vtuber market. Even had an entire Chinese talent branch that got shuttered shortly after). In the end she left the company on good terms and is still fondly regarded by all the other talents.
Now she's independent under her old name kson, and with all the freedom she could want most people agree her content has gotten a lot lazier and boring.
But yeah, vtubers are online entities, and if there's anything you can guarantee about online entities it's that there'll always be plenty of drama. Hololive tends to be a bit more drama-free than other, especially the EN branch compared to other EN vtubers, and JP tubers are definitely more drama-free than EN ones in general. But it's usually nothing to really worry much about.
Unless you're a fandead, in which case we'll all point and laugh.
