That's usually how auditions or contract bids work. They scout out who they really want, but they do still have to check to see if there is anyone else worth bringing in.

hell they didn't even take snuffy who was as popular as shylily is now at the time even though she applied (given she sent it in a day late, but they still accepted it)

they leave a position open on job sites when it actually turns out they already hired someone internal; they do it because of labor equity laws. you can usually spot them by insane application requirements

This happens in every field. Even if there's some kind of law that says you must interview people from x, y, and z they've already made their decision and are just wasting interviewees time because they have to walk the legal red tape.

Nah. They just wanted to hire a former big name. They don't care how talented you are. That's why they hired Hime even though she streams less than even Ayame.

I think you guys better prepare yourselves because this could be the start of the vtuber draft arc. It's good to start fresh but it would be also a wise investment to pick up popular indies into your company while they still retain their usual look. Just give them a new outfit, new debut to your company and hope to reach a wider audience that way. This seems like an industry shift is happening before our eyes.

The company is run by a bunch of friends and friends of friends. Each new hire, if they don’t stream, doesn’t cost them any overhead. So having Hime on the roster is simple. If anything more employees let’s them claim more tax breaks.

My guess is the opportunity to get into the Japan market happened when Kson left Cover. The plan changed from horizontal growth of signing 2-20 view EN talent. There is no better person to get into the market then signing Kson.

This is pretty much how the influencer/streamer/etc industries go: Relatively small person gets into large company, they become big themselves due to the influence of the company, that person then realizes that they can use this new popularity to either go solo or join a smaller company with a better deal for them.

Same shit happened with Mixer kind of, where they offered a bunch of big Twitch streamers to move there though that obviously ended up not working for Mixer.
