So, since Japanese companies need permissions to stream games, even for their streamers outside of Japan, does that mean VShojo's JP branch operates on America's free-for-all rules (Atlus game notwithstanding) or does VShojo need to start getting permissions for them as well?

I'm not sure if she'll have to get permissions. On paper it sounds like yes but from how I understand it it's because a corporation gets money from them streaming the game that they have to get permission. VShojo not taking a cut of the streamer's direct income makes it sound like a loophole so the rule wouldn't apply.

The issue with Hololive EN is that its managed and oversaw by those also in the japanese office. ID only has to follow ID laws due to being and staffed in ID

VShojo is Japan-based, and they could get sued by Japanese game companies if they find out that Vshojo has been playing their games without permission. The only reason they haven't yet is because hardly anyone in Japan knows Vshojo exists, but VShojo Japan might unintentionally put a spotlight on the issue.

video game companies can already copyright claim any streamers they like, most decide not to since they consider having influencers play their game as mutually beneficial. you do get cases like atlus west putting out a statement about streaming restrictions on persona 5

This is how VOMS works, the talents keep 100% of the streaming money and Gyari only gets merch cuts, so they seem fine doing whatever they want without much worry.

It'll be interesting to see if the higher ambition of Vshojo will interfere with that despite a similar structure.
