the net result is that even thousands of perfectly innocuous pastes got nuked, fucking up a lot of communities that used it to document stuff, and since it's impossible to guess whether or not your content is safe before you post it, people pretty much just abandoned the platform. we keep wandering back and forth between knockoffs like ghostbin, 0bin, justpasteme, etc, but none of them have thus far proven as versatile and reliable as pastebin, so everything's kind of uncomfortable and decentralized compared to how it used to be
