Irys should have been a huge breakout hit. Singer, bilingual, solo debut. If she took off, cover would be in a totally different position today. After she and Council failed to meet expectations or work for growth, they've let other competitors into the industry. If en3 is released and is a huge success like myth, irys and council will become like the lost generation, the forgotten middle kids

im a schizo by nature, but ive noticed now that every person who's streamed since the off collab has been too goody goody. they're pandering to their chats, reading messages, acting girly, saying they want to stream a lot
normally id be happy but im too schizo and i started thinking about it. why would talent who can coast by on one or two streams a week suddenly start streaming more? why are they making promises about improving their schedules? why are they suddenly clingy with their chats?
my guess is en3 is coming and they're afraid they're going to lose a substantial amount of viewership when their viewers find a solid, consistent talent in en3. to viewers, en3 will be the new toys everyone gravitate to. everyone else is desperately trying to scramble to solidify their fantasies before the inevitable shift of attention

You are probably misremembering.
She already talked about this both recently and before. She got in Hololive on her first application (as she said it, Hololive is her dream so she went all in on it). At the end of her interview, she thought she failed because they told her something in the line of "Good luck in your future endeavors", but ultimately she got in.
She did say that she auditioned for something else singing-related long time ago, though, and failed in the final round (there were only 3-4 left IIRC). Probably some singer or idol group audition.

Doesn't that completely negate the point of vsingers being its own thing? Why keep them away from regular Holo gens if they don't actually get any special extra features/options and she literally streams/acts just like a regular Holo anyway? Functionally Mori is the vsinger, she and Irys absolutely could have swapped places and nobody would have thought them off-feeling.

Basically yeah if you think about it, Holo had functionally 3 gens (counting Gamers) in only about a year when they got off the ground... the girls who didn't immediately dig in and hit the ground running are literally Mel, Aki etc and years later they're still smalltime. Aki fucked up her hip and couldn't stream for a while not long after she debuted, similar to the Sana dog situation her momentum just up and died afterward. Sana is EN Aki basically, and the others are struggling to not become future Chocos - Choco -was- big at one point, but quickly got eclipsed by new hotness and didn't try to claw her way back up.
