The reason for this is obvious if you think for more than like, 10 seconds about it. They have a fuck ton of people so birthdays get semi-generic posters and stuff. Anniverseries (of which there are like, half, maybe a third as many) get more unique stuff.

This, yes. For instance Eden-gumi all had generic birthday merch, but for their anniversary they got socks, finger puppets, jackets, a phone stand, a phone charm, a tumbler, etc.
Even with LazuLight they got shirts and stuff instead of just the generic birthday set.
