because livestreams are streams when you have subconsciously made time for and is more important to you even if you do not realize it. VOD are streams that you deemed skippable. Therefore, your starting mental state is different and you are much more likely to enjoy something that you think you will enjoy more.

no one watches things after theyve happened, only to rewatch a part youve seen before

You miss out interacting with the chuuba. That's honestly the most fun thing about streaming. The interaction if the person is smart or funny or whatever.
At least that's how I feel about solo content VODs. I actually prefer watching collab VODs because they mostly ignore the chat anyways. Unless it's a two-three person thing.

Clipfag/normie mentality. Most likely you're used to short clips giving to the funny moments, or even worse, you watch tiktok, reels, or shorts and need that quick dopamine of constant interesting moments fed to you in small chunks. Watching a vod for most people feels like a long series of clips that aren't funny with the occasional funny moment, there's too much time in between "clippable moments"

the appeal of live streams is that you're there supporting and interacting with your favorite vtuber. With VODs, you're just left with the actual content, and vtubers typically aren't consistently entertaining enough for someone to watch a video that's longer than the average movie all the way through.

It's the opposite for me. When it's live I can't just skip the boring bits - like Kiara's member stream right now, which is total dullsville. I usually go straight to the timestamps and watch only the segments where the holos talk about stuff unrelated to the game they're playing
