Reason being, their only means of expression is twitter, and text doesn't really convey the sarcasm and irony that makes up so much of the current modern "humor" they use, and second, the nature of the pre-debut phase makes them extra attention-whorey, they think they have to drum up hype and think that's best done by the only thing they know, acting extra WACKY, ZANY, and EDGY.
Hell, it'd probably do a lot of them just as well or even better if they either tweeted less overall or tweeted normal stuff instead of this cringe ass zoomer humor. And it pretty much always turns out the same - in the predebut tweet phase they try to portray themselves as haha peepeepoopoo funny guys and gals and push out cringy "zinger" after another, and then when the actual debut comes around, surprise surprise, their actual onstream personality is usually far removed from that and much more reserved/bland/boring
