Both are the icons and voices of their eras. Korone started the 2nd boom of vtubers. Though Kizuna AI has had more high profile business ventures, Korone arguably has had more of an online presence than Kizuna ever did at her peak. Korone at her peak was being shared on Facebook by normalfags and all her meme videos got millions of views no matter how short or stupid. Kizuna AI has a more standard voice but it's debatably the most recognizable vtuber voice of all time, while Korone has a unique accent and a squeakier pitch.

And, just like Ai-chan, Korone declined so hard nobody watches her anymore. She struggled to get 10k viewers these days while Pekora and Marine can practically just fart into the mic and there would be 15k people minimum glued to the screen.

Fubuki went semi-viral with one video but she didn't make hololive big. Fubuki's video got a lot of views but Hololive at that time still wasn't as massive it is now. When Korone came on the scene, not just Hololive but vtubing itself had a 2nd boom of popularity that's only comparable to when Kizuna AI went viral.

Compare the views Hololive was getting when Fubuki did the meme video compared to the views Holoive and Vtubers in general started getting when Korone became popular. Aqua, Rushia, Fubuki didn't have the online presence Korone did and when Korone became big, the entire medium was popular again worldwide, not just in Japan. You don't even have to take my word for it, just look up data on Hololive. How many searches, clicks and views they were getting during the fubuki meme/Aqua/Rushia period compared to when Korone turned the entire thing mainstream.

Hololives was third boom. 2nd boom was Nijisanji who introduced streaming style vtuber thru Tsukino Mito/JK Gumi and ended short video style vtuber.

Vtubing died in the west after Ai-chan's viral popularity died down and it didn't gain any traction again until Hololive blew up with the likes of Fubuki, Korone, and Miko bringing in EOPs.

Fubuki went viral on one video but she herself and Hololive didn't at that time. Even when Aqua and Rushia started getting views Hololive was still niche worldwide.

When Korone exploded in popularity, look at Hololive's growth rate in subscriptions. That was when vtubers became fucking massive and overtook youtube. Vtubers haven't been that relevant worldwide (not just in Japan) since the Kizuna AI days. Facts are facts.

I didn't downplay Niji's importance to vtubing you dunce. I merely said that Niji bursting onto the scene wasn't even a blip on the radar outside of Japan. Worldwide vtubing relevence died with Ai-chan and wasn't revived until Hololive.

It's really ridiculous to give credit to one person for the explosion in popularity of Hololive, even singling out a few members is harsh but Sora carrying the company in the early days, Fubuki being the face of the company and getting hits worldwide for Scatman, Matsuri having some of the biggest clips in late 2019 to early 2020 like the band-aids one, Aqua being the nijikiller with some of the most watched streams, Korone appealing to a worldwide audience with popular games overseas like Doom and Banjo and viral memes easily digested by EOPs, Pekora's MGS streams getting absolutely insane viewing figures for the time and her becoming the most watched chuba in the world, and Coco becoming insanely popular straight after her debut with Asacoco and being a native English speaker helping Hololive's ability to develop an international audience all helped massively. Yes HoloEN too but by that point Hololive was by far the biggest agency and those five are the first to admit that they're standing on the shoulders of giants.

This is what ESLs with no reading comprehension don't understand. Kizuna AI and Korone were the only vtubers to actually make a splash worldwide. Those were the two big booms of vtubers.

I dont know, I think Kaichou`s AsaCoco was one of the biggest factors for hololive`s growth. She had just debuted and she was already competing with the top livers because of it. Minato "Nijikiller" Aqua also deserves more respect.
