They're all so fucking dishonest. When I discovered Vtubers my first thought was: "Hey, a bunch of cute anime girls playing games and hanging out together, that sounds inoffensive and easy to watch."

Based. And sadly true.
2020 onwards ruined Hololive. Arguably late 2019 given what happened.
If Nu-Hololive was totally different people without an attachment to the old, I wouldn't have cared much at all, but it isn't.
Entire groups of people doing a 180 in the personality is not something good or to cheer for. People shat on, and STILL shit on, Nyanners for that.
Chasing money. Quite literally. I don't hate them, I still watch some of them, I'm just disappointed in them.
