>>30686853I agree with you on pretty much all of these points. I'm playing up the leeching factor, but I do think it's absolutely hilarious that the early Romans literally could not get bitches because they were so undesirable
>ArchitectureRoman architects were among the best in the world. The Via Appia is the single greatest civic engineering feat in Roman history, perhaps only matched by the aqueducts, baths, and sewage systems. They really were masters of civic engineering. Military engineering they were also top class. The construction of the Rhine bridge was a thing of beauty
>Proper bureaucracyHighly debatable. Early Rome was plagued by cycles of good king / bad king until Tarquinius Superbus' massive yab with Lucretia. They were Etruscans though, so I'll let that slide. The Republic was absolute dogshit though 100%. So many cases of officials abusing their power, propping up their friends, and then backstabbing them once they were done with them. The average Roman civilian lived a poor, nasty, brutish, and short life during the Republic. And the retarded Senate that did nothing but suck its own dick did its damnedest to fuck the Republic into the ground by assassinating its only good consuls. No, not Caesar. The Gracchi brothers reformed agriculture in the Republic to the point that farmers were actually able to live decent lives and provided social benefits for wounded veterans. Then the Republic had to assassinate them and fuck it all up, leading to the Marian reforms, the collapse of the Senate, and the eventual uprising of Caesar, August, and the Empire
>Sustain millions more people than almost any other society on EarthBitch, India's population fucking dwarfed the Roman Empire's at the time. They even had democracy as early as 400 BC in some areas. The fact that people only think of western history as ancient history shows how absolutely fucked the East gets with history revisionism
