>>30879947to be fair (I don't know what reasons the koreans you spoke to gave, but) this may just be a case similar to EN before Myth. Most people /here/ were negative (sure, the normie fans out there on yt/reddit/twitter where mostly positive to neutral) at the thought of a potential EN Holo branch, with the prevailing opinion being something like "ugh pls no, fuck western women, I watch Holo to get away from them, they're probably all just gonna be gigacringe/twitch-whores/essjaydubs etc and will ruin our perfect Hololive. We're already sufficient and don't need anything more than our japanese Holo oshis pandering to us with the occasional ~hey sexy overseas guys~ etc shoutout". And well, then came Myth along and the rest is history.
As for Cover actually opening up a KR branch (domain-squatting the twitter account already nonwithstanding, they also registered Hololive India and nothing came of that), it's a mixed bag. Sure, the brand recognition is probably there (if we take the influx of KR viewers and the apparent success of the Aniplus event at face value), but Korea seems like a rather difficult market for vtubers. The NijiKR branch that was started way earlier seems to be treading water (though there were some interal troubles before), and the most popular korean vtubers seem to be some third party agencies and indies on twitch (which to be fair seem to be getting good numbers, I've seen some reach 5k+). Sure, Cover could try and maybe have a blowout success like repeating what Myth did for EN vtubers, or it could be a dud and Koreans really do just prefer EN/JPs pandering to them instead.
