>>30976227People VASTLY overestimate the importance of sub numbers. It's a nice easy way to compare since it requires 0 research, but the sort of long-form, live content vtubers produce means barely any of their subs are actual regular viewers.
Company vtubers get a huge boost up front from "company fans" - people who will drop a sub on every new Hololive/Nijisanji/whatever member, even if they never intend to watch them unless it's some special occasion (e.g., their oshi is collabing on their channel, or it's a karaoke stream from one of the good singers, or whatever).
They have the male debuff to the above, both because a lot of vtuber fans are only in it to be hardcore coomers, and because HoloPro in particular tries to be a pseudo-idol company so all the girls have to pretend to be like "OMG BOYS COOTIES", so they don't get the same level of promotion that a new gen of girls would.
