There’s this radical idea of decision making purity that many people have that is totally impractical. Everyone has to take the circumstances of their environment, specifically their work environment, into account when doing their job. Is it a breach of creative freedom to have your vtuber put out a schedule? I don’t think anyone would consider that because it’s part of their job. It’s accepted that they preplan content. Numberfagging is not really that different when done appropriately. It’s part of your job as an entertainer to have engagement from your audience. You simply have to have it. So you, to a certain extent, make decisions based on what would gather views. Maybe not the absolute most views, but you avoid unpopular games, unpopular topics, etc. That doesn’t make you a corporate sellout, that makes you a practical human being. You care more about the long term viability of your content over any singular piece of it. Sure, we may lionize the fanatics that do insane shit for little clout or payoff, but that obviously implies they aren’t successful and they aren’t viable long term.
Tl;dr So long as you think about numberfagging less than /vt/ numberfags, you are probably ok.
