>>31867047Instead of commenting indirectly about the script and voice acting or whatever, let's actually look at the EN lines:
>G: "kara no-?">I: Where'd you pick up that Japanese?>G: Shibuya!>G: Heh. Check out this cosplayer, trying to keep the setting alive. This is the only point in the script where I think the "ESL scriptwriting" is noticeably bad, just because I've never heard of "keep the setting alive" as a common idiom and I don't think a native English speaker would have phrased a comment like that
>I: Senchou! There's something out there!>G: And a kid who's zero percent orca.I think Gura had the perfect delivery for this line as a short comedic quip
>I: We need to help Chloe...>G: Aren't *you* gonna do anything?>I: Sadly, that's just how bosses are.>G: Oh, so you're gonna ram the ship into it? Cool!>I: I'll hold it in place for you!Honestly after reading through the lines like this, I don't think they were written too poorly or awkwardly or "ESL" at all; they even let Gura say "gonna" where foreign translators would probably originally put "going to"
My opinion is the problem with the writing isn't the phrasing of the lines but the choice of dialogue - a lot of the things said by Ina aren't things anybody who's used to watching Ina would expect her to say
I think that's why Ina's delivery comes off as really weird and artificial, not because of "bad voice acting" or anything, just that there's too huge a difference between how Ina talks in her streams versus lines like "Sadly, that's just how bosses are."
Everyone else I think delivers lines in the way you'd expect them to knowing their streams: Marine = high energy loud voice boke, Aqua = soft-voiced tsukkomi/side-character, Gura = cheeky little quips, Chloe = "aho" chara who tries to annoy people by saying "cute-annoying" things like "uso-pyoooon" and "poeeee?"
Ina has a distinct way of speaking in her streams that's kinda like..... sleepy? Her UMISEA clips sound very "awake", that plus her not at least trying to speak in japanese when she's arguably the biggest weeb of the ENs and constantly tries to practice speaking JPs to JPs, makes you think of her UMISEA appearances like "who is this person"
