I'm not gonna sit here and deny it, and I'm sure a lot of them know that their income comes from mentally unstable lonely men. That's the entire idea of the business model and using cute women to attract men. The problem is that this has a Japanese side to it, where it's pretty much understood by both sides that this is a mutual exchange. The issue comes when you involve westerners, specifically western women, who want to have their cake and eat it too and not talk about how they very obviously make money from lonely men. Even if they don't want it to be that way and try to filter them, the fact still remains.
It's a whole can of worms, but it's just not gonna happen because the sweet nectar is so much better than the bitter truth, you know? The same argument could be made for normal streamers as well or just youtubers and such. Ironically, I think the only people that work in entertainment that don't usually have to deal with that kind of thing as much anymore are famous actors and musicians. Their lives are usually either a circus or very boring and they're open about everything to the point of it being obnoxious, so no one cares.
